1.1.1 Assessment 2 – Community Case Study
Part A: Group Oral Presentation (Strengths based community profile)
ASSESSMENT OVERVIEW
Students will work in groups to present a ‘Strengths based community health profile for an Indigenous community’ You will consider strengths of the community, resources available, health priorities, challenges present, accessibility to health care and Indigenous models of care.
Important notes:
- Everyone presents, you will be presenting to the tutors and one other group on the day.
- You will be allocated a day and time to present during week one/two tutorial.
- You will be divided into groups of 5 students during week one tutorial
- 10 slide maximum – one of you will begin your presentation by reading out your acknowledgement of country.
- The focus is on delivering a clear and concise message, we will prompt you as tutors if need be; ie to speak louder, slower etc.
WHERE TO SUBMIT
One student ONLY from the group will need to submit a copy of their presentation BEFORE their scheduled time to present to the Assessment 2: Group presentation assessment portal.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
You will be assessed on the following unit learning outcomes: ULO1, ULO2, ULO3, ULO4, ULO5, ULO6.
The assessment includes a moderation process to ensure reliable, just, and fair outcomes.
Your assessment outcome will be provided to you via a marking rubric accessed via the Assignment 2 section which will be incorporated into your assessment submission. Feedback will be supplied by your tutor using the comments section of the group submission on MyMurdoch Learning page.
Part B: Individual Community Project Proposal
ASSESSMENT OVERVIEW
Based on your research into the region/town of your presentation you will develop a ‘strengths based’ quality improvement proposal that addresses at least one of the health needs identified in the community.
You will use the proposal template provided to guide your proposal (850 words)
- Title
- Project aim
- Rationale for the project
- Approach and design
- Timeline
- Cultural considerations – co-designed/delivered
- Student declaration – own biases, conflict of interest
WHERE TO SUBMIT
This assessment is a has two submission portals under the Assessment 2: Part B section dependant you’re your rotation. You will need to submit your project proposal using the correct Assignment submission tool in myMurdoch Learning, this will depend on your rotation.

You will be assessed on the following unit learning outcomes: ULO1, ULO2, ULO3, ULO4, ULO5, ULO6 and Course Learning Outcome 7.
